The first Foster’s Garden Chapel was built from an old duplex on 16
th Avenue NW. It was opened in 1956 by Cyril "Cy" Foster. In 1964, he and others bought Gooder Brothers Funeral Home, and renamed it Cy Foster-Gooder Funeral Home.
Three chapels were formed from this partnership: Cy Foster-Gooder’s Chapel on the Hill (located at 1708 16
th Avenue NW), Cy Foster-Gooder Hillside Chapel (located at 1635 17
th Avenue SW), and Cy Foster’s Garden Chapel (then located at 540 16
th Avenue NW). Our current business, Foster’s Garden Chapel and Crematorium, is an amalgamation of those three chapels, and opened in July 1989.
Today, as a proud member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, we carry on Mr. Foster’s traditions of quality service and close associations with the families we serve.
We are proud members of the Better Business Bureau, Alberta Funeral Services Association and the Funeral Service Association of Canada.
